THANKS...

SIMON would like to say thanks to:

Tiphie, for accepting how important this trip is to me, being brave about the time apart, and being all round tasty; my family, for their eternal
support; Ben at Paligap for his generosity in giving us awesome Kona bicycles; too many people to name individually for their generous donations to our cause; Bomber for his help on the website; Starkey for all your cycle-touring experience and advice happily shared; Craig for accompanying me through Africa (to think I was going to try organise all this on my own!); Rob for my great haircut...

CRAIG would like to say thanks to:

Ivo & Eva (my patient flatmates, for putting up with all the mess while I stripped bicycles apart in the living room...and generally got stressed about this trip); Iris (for all of those injections, some more painful than others, sorting out RABIES...yay!...and all those jolly, if slightly naughty laughs!) and the NHS for paying for (almost) all of them!; Rosie & Stan (For messages of support and interest...and for raising such a beautiful, special daughter); Ally (for picking up our great BEN kit); Lesley (without your quick assistance, I may still be waiting for my passport - I owe you dinner!); Lerato of DHL Pretoria; Leona & Milan (for looking after our room while we are gone!); Janusz (for making us those super-strong, custom rack-mounting-brackets); De Ver Cycles (for the BIG cardboard box to get my precious bike to Cairo); Andrew Wheeldon of BEN (for genuine enthusiasm for what we have planned to do...and for the great BEN clothes too!); Ben at KONA/PALIGAP (for the bikes that will get us there...); HOPE (for sending out a custom disk-rotor at short notice); TPB LLP (for giving me the time off to take on this challenge); and generally all of you out there that have shown enthusiasm and support for what we are doing; Simon for being the nut who thought of doing this in the first place!...and finally of course, my darling Jamaica, the "button-headed-girl", without whom I would not be out here doing this crazy trip! (After all...you did convince me to do it!)

And also a few "Raspberry Awards" of "anti-thanks" to those who let me down when I really didn't need any extra hassles...
Department of Home Affairs (for keeping my passport in a box somewhere for 3 months without bothering to send it through to London!); The London SA High Commision (for taking three weeks to reply to my emails, not calling me back when they said they would and then telling me I have to courier my passport from SA to London myself because otherwise it won't get here in time!); Ben Cooper of Kinetics (for going on holiday without giving me any details of the couriered delivery that I ended up waiting two weeks for; for not doing the job he was supposed to, and finally, for sending me parts that didn't actually fit! My advice...never use this shop...ever!); ANC Couriers (for "losing" my back wheel in the local warehouse because THEY hadn't labeled it properly...and then for not bothering to call me and ask me about it!)...and a final jab at all those mothers doing the school run  in their "Chelsea Tractors"...spend your money on something more practical, more sustainable, better for the rest of the world...a bicycle! (I see a couple delivering their kids to the local school every day in a custom tricycle...good for them I say!)
